Cash drawer
Shifts & the cash drawer
Open the drawer with a counted float, record drops and payouts, and close to a deposit with variance.
Opening a drawer shift
- Tap the drawer icon (Open cash drawer) → the Cash drawer panel.
- Enter the Opening float, or use Count bills & coins to tally denominations ($100 down to 1¢) — the counted total fills in automatically.
- Press Open drawer. The station chip now shows Drawer open · float $X.XX.
Heads up Cash sales are blocked on a register until its drawer shift is open.
During the shift
Cash drop / payout records money moving in or out mid-shift:
- Drop to safe — skim excess cash out of the till.
- Payout — cash out for a purchase or expense.
- Paid in — cash added to the till.
Each entry takes an amount and a reason and shows in the drawer’s event list. Kick drawer pops the till without a sale (needs the Open cash drawer permission).
Closing the drawer
- Press Close drawer. The preview shows Opening float + Cash sales − Cash refunds = Expected in till, and the suggested Deposit.
- Enter Counted cash and the Starting drawer (left in till) for the next shift. Any difference shows as variance.
- Press Close & reset — the toast summarizes deposit, reset amount, and variance.
Managers can also watch and close-out Open drawers from Store HQ → Registers.
