Your online shop & pickup orders

Publish the menu, brand your storefront, share the link or connect your own domain — and work online orders from the register.

Save a website draft versus publish it

  1. Open Website and edit the homepage or banners.
  2. Preview and review the draft. Uploading, cropping, reordering, enabling, or removing a banner changes the draft; it does not publish it.
  3. Use Publish changes when ready to update the storefront. A draft can be lost when leaving or reloading the page.
  4. For a custom domain, save the hostname and configure the required DNS record. Saving the field alone does not verify DNS or enable HTTPS.

If an edit is not live, first check whether Publish changes was used. Do not repeatedly upload the same banner.

Publish products to the menu

WebsiteProducts is your storefront manager: filter by On website, Hidden, Missing photos, or Needs polish, toggle listings on and off, and use Bulk photo upload to fill gaps fast. A product needs On website checked (and ideally a photo + description) to appear.

Website → Products: what customers see online, with photo and polish filters.

Design your homepage

WebsiteHomepage (and the other Website tabs) is your storefront designer:

  1. Start from a template — Classic, Fresh, Bold, or Minimal — then customize every piece.
  2. Theme — logo, accent color, page tone (Warm / Light / Dark), corner style, fonts, and hero layout.
  3. Write the hero (eyebrow, headline, supporting sentence), and optionally add a shop button and an announcement bar.
  4. Toggle and reorder sections: deals, featured products, banners, collections, category tiles, story, and visit us.
  5. Press Save changes — it goes live immediately. Preview shop opens your storefront.

Share your shop link

Open WebsiteShop link & domain.

  • Every store gets a Cannavate URL like cannavate.net/shop/your-store. Use Copy or Open to share it right away.
  • That link keeps working even after you connect your own domain.
Tip You need the Manage store & inventory settings permission to change the domain. Ask a manager if you don’t see the fields.

Connect your own domain (CNAME)

Customers can shop at a URL you own (for example shop.yourdispensary.com) instead of the Cannavate link. You’ll add one DNS record at your domain provider, then save the hostname in Cannavate.

  1. Pick the hostname you want customers to type — usually a subdomain such as shop.yourdispensary.com or order.yourdispensary.com.
  2. In your DNS provider (GoDaddy, Cloudflare, Google Domains, Namecheap, etc.), create a CNAME record:
    FieldWhat to enter
    TypeCNAME
Host / NameThe subdomain only (e.g. shop or order)
    Target / Points to / Valueshops.cannavate.net
    TTLAutomatic or 5–30 minutes
  3. In Store HQ, open WebsiteShop link & domain.
  4. Under Use your own domain, enter the full hostname (e.g. shop.yourdispensary.com) and press Save.
  5. Wait for DNS to propagate (often a few minutes; sometimes up to a few hours). Then open https://shop.yourdispensary.com — you should see your storefront and age gate.
Note Leave the domain field blank to keep using only the Cannavate shop link. To disconnect a custom domain later, clear the field and press Save.
Heads up HTTPS (the lock icon) is issued after the CNAME is live. If the page doesn’t load securely yet, or your DNS host asks for an extra TXT verification record, message Cannavate support with the hostname — we’ll finish SSL setup with you.

Common mistakes to avoid:

  • Don’t point the CNAME at cannavate.net or www.cannavate.net — use shops.cannavate.net.
  • Don’t put https:// in the Host HQ field — just the hostname.
  • Apex domains (yourdispensary.com with no subdomain) often can’t use a plain CNAME. Prefer shop. or ask support about an apex setup.

What customers see

The shop opens with a 21+ / medical age gate, then the live menu: search, category chips, sort by Featured, potency, price, or terpenes, and filters for effects and sizes. Guests add items, and place a pickup order with just Name, Phone, and optional email / notes — payment happens at pickup. An Illinois limit meter nudges carts that exceed daily caps.

Working an online order at the register

  1. The order lands in Pending Online with a toast on every register (“Online order: …”).
  2. Accept it — drag to Online or use the wait list’s → Online — and open the ticket to fill it (scan, or send a pick ticket to the vault).
  3. When it’s filled, press Notify: the ticket moves to the Online lane stamped ready for pickup.
  4. When the guest arrives, open the ticket and Charge — cash, debit, or split, like any sale.

Managers can also watch the queue from Store HQ under WebsiteOnline orders.
